Naramata Bench BC Wine Tasting

On the way back from the wedding in Vancouver, we took advantage of Aunt Terry’s generous offer to stay at her place in Naramata Bench wine country!   The first day there, we checked out Red Rooster Winery and La Frenz Estate Winery.

Then we drove to Aunt Terry’s cabin overlooking the lake.     If you need  a summer “fix”, get yourself to beautiful BC wine country — it was sunny & 27 degrees C there!

The next day, after coffee on the deck,  we waved goodbye to the cabin & headed to Lake Breeze Vineyards for lunch on the patio. It was excellent food & we paired it with their Bench White.    It was superb – nice dry, crisp white with a hint of citrusy grapefruit – blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Gris.     Ben joined us at our table — he is the resident pooch that freely roams about & chose the shade of our table to grab a nap.   What a life!

Before hitting the road, we stopped in at Hillside Estate Winery and bought 2 bottles to bring home – a 2007 Syrah and a 2009 Riesling Old Vines.    Naramata is full of quiet little vineyards.    On the whole, we found the wines to be a little pricey, but the ambience is excellent.

Visiting vineyards is always an enjoyable experience and adds to your wine knowledge.     Next trip out to Naramata,  Ruby Tuesday Winery is definitely on the list – unfortunately we ran out of time!
