WHO IS THE BEST WINE STORE IN AIRDRIE?
Now with 3 competing wine making stores in Airdrie it comes down to a local Country Fair to reveal who is the best. All wine and beer makers were welcome to enter their products into the Airdrie Country Fair in August. Home Vintner customers won 23 of the 24 ribbons for both wine and beer. Question - with the time and effort involved in making your own home brews why not buy the best? The truth is that you can buy cheaper kits at warehouses and discount stores but unfortunately you won't be able to drink them, and aging will not improve a low quality product. We guarantee all products sold in our stores if you bottle with our closures.
WHO IS THE BEST WINE STORE IN ALBERTA?
The results from the Amateur Winemakers of Canada Competition (AWC) held in Nova Scotia are in.
The Home Vintner Wine Guild has just won 19 awards of 27 awarded to Alberta, taking 1 Gold, 11 Silver, 5 Bronze and 2 Certificates of Merit. The competition in the whole province of Alberta won the other 8. WOW!
30 bottles of wine from Alberta were allowed and submitted to the 2011 AWC Competition. Our Home Vintner Wine Guild had won 20 awards out of the 30 in the Alberta Amateur Winemakers competition this spring so submitted 20 bottles to the AWC. This was when our own Ron Goodhew had won Alberta Winemaker of the year.

375 ML BOTTLES ON SALE
During September our 375 green and clear Bordeaux bottles are 15% off - just in time to bottle your seasonal ports and ice wines.
PRE-ORDERS WILL BE ARRIVING SOON
The hugely popular Chocolate Raspberry Port, Okanagan Peach Icewine, Blackberry Port and Selection International Gamay Nouveau are arriving in September. We will contact all those who have pre-ordered as soon as they arrive. We will have a few extra on a first come first served basis.
CHOCOLATE RASPBERRY PORT
Multiple Gold medal winner at the last 4 WineMaker Amateur Wine Competitions. Hugely popular, this wine is bursting with rich, intense flavours and aromas. With a traditional Port character of warm, rounded cherry and plum, supported by a racy zing of bright raspberry. Perfumed and gently tart with luscious liquid chocolate, beguiling with dark, bittersweet aromas of coffee and vanilla. Toasty hints of oak guide the way to a long, rich finish.
Native to the Americas, Blackberries are busting with intense fruit flavours. Often used to describe Cabernet Sauvignon, blackberry aromas are deep and richly fruity. This, along with lingering tannins and a gorgeous deep purple hue make it an excellent foil for the broad richness of Port. Bright berry notes lift up this wine, making it a superb foil for intense cheese, roasted nuts and especially chocolate desserts.
OKANAGAN PEACH ICEWINE STYLE
Gold Medal at the past 3 WineMaker Amateur Wine Competitions. The Okanagan Valley lies in the rain shadow of British Columbia's Coastal mountains. The region's very low annual average rainfall means that part of the valley is a true desert! In this climate grapes ripen to perfect intensity, with notes of honey, apricot and spice. Our Peach Icewine has deep floral notes, stone fruit and perfect sweetness, balanced with the sun-ripened perfume of a luscious peach.

Made with Gamay grapes sourced directly from France's Beaujolais region, Winexpert's Gamay Nouveau is a departure from our usual wines, where we recommend waiting 3 months or even longer to taste the first bottle. Gamay Nouveau is ready to enjoy on bottling day, and while it will improve for a year, its bursting fruit, joyfully hedonic aromas and easy-drinking character will make it unlikely for a bottle to last that long.

BUYER BEWARE-BY PAUL SASS, OWNER
NOT ALL WINE KITS ARE CREATED EQUAL
It’s a fallacy to think that all wines will improve with age. How would you feel if you built up an impressive cellar, having paid good money, to find that after a year all your wines are falling apart? There is a large quality difference between wine kit brands. Ours are structured to express themselves more with age, most are not.
We have been in business for over 18 years with 15 staff certified in winemaking. Our staff judge wine at the Provincial and National level. With 520 Provincial, National and International awards from our Wine Guild we know how to help you get the best investment from your wine cellar.
Start with a quality wine kit. A cheaper knock off is a bad investment. If there are claims that compare another product to a real Winexpert product, it’s like comparing Tang to real orange juice.

BEST OF SHOW CHAMPAGNE
Champagne is the only wine that goes with everything, you can enjoy it before, during and after. I always have a bottle of champagne in my fridge waiting for special occasions like an announcement of another wedding or grandchild. In the morning we add orange juice, later in the day we enjoy it straight up. In the manufacturing process I prefer the natural carbonation using the dextrose provided with the kit. For those who prefer to use CO2 we have a champagne carbonator available for rent. This product has won best of show for so many years that it is now just a winner that many of our wine makers have in waiting.
EISCH GLASS OFFER
When you purchase any 2 wine kits on the same day in September receive a free Eisch Breathable Glass (value $34.95).
A wine poured into a breathable glass for just 2 to 4 minutes will show signs of aeration equivalent to the same wine that has been decanted and aerated for 1 to 2 hours. The original character and structure of the wine are preserved, yet the wines aroma and palate impression become more open and generous. The properties of breathable glasses were confirmed by wine professionals all over the world and Eisch also received innovation awards from Germany and Canada. The breathable glasses are made in Germany. (Excluded from this offer is Island Mist, cannot be combined with any other offer including birthday coupons).

REDWOOD CHOCOLATE ALE
Introducing our new Redwood Chocolate Ale, made with 500 gm of chocolate malt and our Barons Redwood Ale - recipe available in our stores. The final product is an extremely dark, rich ale. Redwood has become my favorite because it's snappy and robust. The chocolate creates a great background flavour that, in it's own way is a bit mellow. "I may be biased here because I am a chocoholic but this ale tends to leave a very characteristic taste that lingers on long after the last mouthful", - from Rob in Airdrie, the creator of this great beer!
