Yakima Valley Region, Washington

Posted by Jessica & Graham, Chile, October 18th, 2016 | 0 Comments

Yakima Valley is the oldest and most established official wine region in the state of Washington. This Valley boasts not just about its abundant grapes, but also stone fruits such as plums, nectarines and peaches. Similar to Naramata bench BC, but in Washington.

The Yakima valley is slightly cooler than its surrounding regions, but also holds a steadier average temperature. This helps with vintage consistency, and allows for remarkably well balanced wines. Because of this, varietals that require balance such as Chardonnay, Syrah and Cabernet Franc thrive in this area. While these may be the stars of the Yakima Valley, the region boasts so many micro terroirs that really, almost any grape can find its own little corner where it can ripen perfectly!

We are especially excited about our upcoming Limited Edition Cabernet Franc from this region, which typically boasts fruit forward wines with a HUGE nose and spicy finish. We expect out Limited Edition kit to have all of these traits, as well as some mouthwatering black currant, raspberry and subtle leather finish.
