Champagne in Byblos

Posted by Paul Sass, May 21st, 2013 | 1 Comment

A brief stop in the port city of Byblos turned into an overnight stay for my family. Calgarians know the Byblos ruins by the picture on the pita bread, we managed to get a restaurant table that overlooked the bay. Spending the afternoon drinking champagne and toasting our good luck. We found it hard to get local sparking wine, so we had to rely on the french. Apparently local sparkling wine is not a big thing here, but with the quality of grapes grown in this area, they could probably make some great vintages.
