There were some interesting inclusions of wines in the awards lineup this year, and thanks again to the Guild for submitting such a great selection of wines. Our seasonal limited releases always manage to rise to the top and represent well in competition. This year saw wines such as LE German Traminer Spatslese, LE South African Sauvignon Blanc Semillon and LE Italian Brunello bringing in Silvers. In the Bronze category, the LE collection was represented with Washington Meritage, Australian Shiraz-Viognier and California Petit Sirah/Zinfandel. Selection Special picks such as Peach Icewine, Blackberry, Chocolate Orange, and Chocolate Raspberry Port as well as French Rose also did well. Of course Selection International is always well represented.
Of interest this year was seeing some Selection Original and Vintner's Reserve wines being entered into competition, and earning medals alongside the larger varietal kits! These included S/O Domaine de Brumes, S/O Chianti and VR Angel Blanco. Island Mist also received awards in two categories - Sparkling and Coolers and Mists.
Guild members are now waiting to hear how many bottles will be moving forward to the National competition in Vancouver. Not all bottles that receive awards move forward, there is a limited amount of bottles that may be entered from each Province.
